Secondo me, il fatto che Orci sia un "Super-Trekker" non esclude assolutamente la presenza di elementi, eventi e personaggi che "siano in armonia con il Canon", anzi.
Orci dice "and we are sure that I/we can't do a remake" (d'altra parte un remake de "l'Ira di Khan" è impossibile oltre che assurdo) ma come è avvenuto nel primo film con la Kobayashi Maru, non disdegna l'idea di mantenere l'"armonia col Canon" presente nel primo film. Quindi almeno per il momento parla di "range from harmony to brand new".
Il nocciolo della questione secondo me sta nella scelta del "quando" il sequel si svolge. Nella precedente intervista con Kurtzman infatti Orci diceva:
"We would never do a remake….it will be some time in the five year mission. But that is a question. Should we pick them up immediately the next day or should it be later, we are still discussing that."
Io credo che se la scelta ricade nel secondo caso, la possibilità di rivedere vecchie conoscenze cresce parecchio.
